5 Ways to Avoid Spouse Sabotage of Weight Loss
Is your spouse sabotaging your weight loss efforts? Your spouse and close friends have a tremendous effect on your weight loss efforts. A lot of people find themselves in the situation where they are trying to lose weight only to be sabotaged over and over by their spouse. These people find their spouse setting booby-traps all over the place. A major part of their weight loss efforts is to preempt all these moves and avoid these booby traps.
If you find yourself in such a situation, here are 5 steps you could take to avoid spouse sabotage of weight loss;
1. Talk to your spouse
Ask your spouse why he or she is sabotaging your weight loss efforts. Make reference to some of the previous things that your spouse has done and try to to come to an understanding. Make your spouse understand why it is important for you to lose weight. When you sit your spouse down and have a heart-to-heart talk, you would very often break through.
2. Barricade unhealthy food
If there is unhealthy food in your house, chances are that your spouse is buying it. You cannot possibly be buying it as you are trying to lose weight. Make a deal with your spouse to allocate a space for all this food in the kitchen. Make a deal with your spouse that you will allow for these food to be kept in the kitchen provided that it is out of sight.
3. Convince your spouse to join you
If you ask your spouse to support you by being on the same diet as you, he or she would most likely oblige. This is if you are not going on some fad diet. It is going to be very difficult to convince your spouse to go on a cabbage soup diet or something of that sort. It will instead be relatively easy to convince him or her to start eating healthy. That is what you should be doing to lose weight anyway. A diet is a temporary solution that is not sustainable over the long-term and should be avoided.
4 Make a deal to reward yourselves
Make a deal to reward yourselves on the weekend if your spouse supports you throughout the week. You and your spouse could use this opportunity to celebrate your effort for the week. You could also use this opportunity to have your cheat meal. You should make sure that you follow the cheat meal rules.
5. Set a goal that benefits both
Set a goal that both of you would like to achieve. One example could be a vacation. Tell your spouse that you could go for a vacation together if you reach your target waistline. This may motivate your spouse to support you.
