Crack the Fat Loss Code

|

People try tirelessly to try to crack the fat loss code. By being able to crack the fat loss code, one is looking for healthy, effective and sustainable fat loss. People look for ways to outsmart their bodies with many tricks. Unfortunately or fortunately, your body is the most awesome survival mechanism ever created.

Anyone wanting to crack the fat loss code and achieve sustainable weight loss, needs to have a sound understanding of the following;

1.  Fat Must be Burnt

Many people fail to realize that fat has to be burnt. Most people fall for gimmicks where they expect fat to mysteriously disappear. Fat can only be removed from your body by burning it in the mitochondria in your cells. For fat to be burnt, calories in must be less than calories out. This calorie deficit is the most basic law of losing fat. As such, it is essential that you be aware of the calories that you consume. You should also increase the amount of calories being burnt by engaging in exercise.

2.  Limits of Fat Loss Must be Understood

Many people look for absurd amounts of fat loss in a given amount of time. People often look to lose 5 or 10 pounds within a week. There is only so much of fat that your body can burn within a given amount of time. Think about it. The fat molecules have to be transported to the mitochondria in your cells. The mitochondria are the tiny power plants in your cells that produce energy. There is a physical limitation to the amount of fat that your combined mitochondria capacity can possibly burn.

While most people can achieve different amounts of fat loss, the American College of Sports Medicine has given some guidelines. Aim to lose between 1 to 2 lbs of fat per week.

3.  Understand the Difference Between Weight Loss and Fat Loss

Weight loss is not fat loss. Fat loss is when you lose only fat. Weight loss could be the loss of fat, muscle, water or a combination of these. Most people look for ridiculous amounts of weight loss. They fail to realize that the body has a physical limit to the amount of fat that it is capable of burning. As a result, they end up losing more than fat. They could end up losing muscle and water.

Measure the amount of fat loss with a body fat caliper. A body fat caliper helps you assess your body fat levels. If all of your weight loss is not coming from fat loss, you had better stop in your tracks and re-assess your weight loss strategy.

4.  Do All You Can to Boost Metabolism

Metabolism is the amount of energy that your body produces. Metabolism is regulated by your hormones. As such, hormonal balance is extremely important. Hormonal balance can only be achieved via a sensible diet and exercise. The calorie deficit must be large enough to enable fat loss. It must also be small enough  so that it does not activate your body’s starvation response. As you can see, there is a fine balance in the calorie deficit. Most people fail to recognize this and embark on drastic diets that wreak havoc on the metabolism. Do all you can to protect and boost your metabolism.
