Does losing weight really need lots of discipline? Does it mean that you cannot eat whatever you want? Most people throw their hands up in despair after just these 2 questions and declare that weight loss is not for them. “And besides”, they rationalize, “being slim is not everything. There is more to life than that!”

Is Being Slim Everything

Yes, being slim may not be everything but it is a very important part of life! Don’t forget that losing weight (and I am talking about losing weight via exercise, good nutrition and adequate supplementation) also leads to good health. I think the best gift you can give your children and spouse is not all the money in the world or all your time, but the gift of your well-being! They will always thank you for it.

Discipline in Weight Loss

But let’s get back to the questions earlier. Does losing weight really need lots of discipline? Well, I think it does. I cannot in all honesty say it is a breeze. I feel the same temptations as everyone else. By the way..I also have the love for food.. and sinful food, at that! I go through the days when the bed really calls me in the mornings when I have to get up to exercise too.

Having said all that.. I really do have a vision in my mind of what I want to look like. Ok, I admit it! I am hopelessly Vain!…*sigh* And that does seem to be a driving factor to do what I have to do. But you know what? There are times when I eat things I am not supposed to be eating, there are days when I miss a workout. On these days, I ask myself, “Where is my discipline in weight loss?”

Expect to Fall But Pick Yourself Up When You Do

I guess what I really am trying to say here is that the true discipline is not in doing everything right from the word go. After all we are all only human and ‘to err is human’. The true discipline in weight loss, is to be able to miss a workout and go back on it the next day. Eat something you are not supposed to eat for this meal and resume your proper diet the next meal. Don’t give up on your whole program just because you missed one workout or pigged out on something. The program is not going be perfect 100 percent of the time. (For those of you out there trying to look for loopholes, you have to be on the right track at least 90 percent of the time!)

So get back on your weight loss goals on your very next meal or workout, and surely… you will reach your goals.
