tic tac toe on a financial report

Everyone looks for efficient weight loss and very few people look for effective weight loss. When weight is loss, it must be kept off. If the weight comes back on, the first weight loss efforts were not effective.  Effective weight loss essentially means losing weight and keeping it off. Efficient weight loss on the other hand is losing the most amount of weight in the shortest possible time. Unfortunately when it comes to weight loss efficiency does not lead to effectiveness.

Efficient Weight Loss

Everyone wants to lose the most amount of weight in the fastest possible time. In current times where everything is available at the press of a button, quick weight loss is much sought after. Quick weight loss sells. Proof of this is the huge popularity of the “Biggest Loser” television reality show. People fall for all sorts of weight loss gimmicks that promise lightning fast weight loss with minimal effort.

Everyone is looking for that holy grail of weight loss. Oprah has sought  this for years without much success. Is there a program, a pill or a diet that which would result in effortless weight loss? People spend all their time, money and energy looking for efficient weight loss. Unfortunately, efficient weight loss is not effective weight loss.

Effective Weight Loss

This essentially means losing weight and keeping it off. Effective weight loss is where the weight loss comes purely from the loss of fat. Muscles are sustained or even increased in some instances. The metabolism is not compromised and health improves. This is what correct weight loss is all about.

Effectiveness requires patience, dedication and discipline. Effective weight loss requires one to work based on the principles of the Law of the Farm. The concept of efficiency works well for machines. Technology is in the continuous pursuit of more efficient cars, smaller microchips, faster computers and so on. Efficiency is a law of the physical world.

The Body Is Not a Machine

The body unfortunately, is not a machine. It is one of god’s most marvelous creations. Your body wants to survive and extend its gene pool via pro-creation. If the body really worked on the concept of efficiency, one would lose weight easily by starving. That makes perfect sense in the world of machines. Put less food into the body while going about your daily lives and your body will use up all of its fat stores.

Unfortunately, the body works in total reverse. It will instead conserve energy and start holding on even tighter to the fat stores. Have you ever tried being efficient when in a major misunderstanding with your spouse. Try telling yourself that you will allocate 10 minutes or 15 minutes to resolve this problem. The body is not designed to be efficient. It is designed to survive.

Effective Weight Loss Follows the Law of the Farm

When it comes to weight loss, slow is fast and fast is slow. You need to patiently work at it. Weight loss requires a calorie deficit. The deficit has to be small so as not to activate your starvation response. Trying to be efficient by increasing the deficit too much will almost shut down your fat burning.

Effectiveness requires one to inculcate the correct habits that will yield sustainable weight loss. A healthy diet with a slight calorie deficit ensures that you continue to lose weight. Diligent exercise that increases your strength, endurance and stamina helps to maintain your weight loss.  While brute strength and discipline can make you lose weight, its only when you have inculcated the correct habits will you be able to sustain the weight loss over the long-term.
