Tips from Jack Lalanne – Sugarholics

Are you a sugarholic?  A sugarholic is one who must have his or her fix of sugar. This could be in the form of sugar or in the form of simple carbohydrates. Sugar spikes your insulin. An elevated level of insulin causes all sorts of problems in the body. Insulin is a fat storage hormone and people will find it very difficult to lose weight if they have an elevated insulin level.

Sugar consumption is the highest it has ever been in developed and developing countries. According to the American Heart Association, adult Americans consume up to 22 teaspoons of sugar a day. Teens on the other hand, consume an astonishing 34 teaspoons of sugar a day.

People consume sugar filled cereals. A considerable amount of most people’s fluid intake has sugar. This could be from colas, sodas or even milky drinks like lattes. You would be surprised to find out that milk also contains a form of simple sugar called lactose which has the ability to spike your insulin.

Jack Lalanne does an excellent job to describe the ill effects of sugar in the video below. Jack Lalanne is a living legend and is still extremely active presently at the age of 95. Any advise coming from Jack Lalanne is precious since he is living testimony of what he preaches.
