The Weight Loss Master Plan of the Masses

  • Step 1 – Start exercise or diet (endure the struggle as this is only temporary)
  • Step 2 – Stop dieting and try to continue with exercise once target weight is achieved
  • Step 3 – Try and maintain the target weight thereafter by controlling food intake

It is surprising how predominant these type of thinking is. It is also the main reason for people to regain weight after losing it.

What people have to realize is that maintaining a healthy weight and fantastic health is a lifelong effort. It is not a 6 month task that most people expect. A lot of effort is required in the beginning to in-grain the right habits but these habits must be continued thereafter. In fact, these habits must become a way of life.

But why is the weight loss master plan of the masses flawed? First of all, exercise and healthy living must be a lifestyle. This is the first major obstacle in a weight loss initiative. Anyone thinking of exercise as a short term solution will be setting themselves up for failure.  The body needs exercise to survive. Exercise releases hormones that enhance health.

The weight loss plan of the masses encourages people to look for quick fix solutions. These include drugs, slimming therapies or  starvation diets. The problem with this master plan of the masses is the thinking that the target weight is a destination. Once someone arrives at this destination, the thinking is that one can revert to the old lifestyle.

Unfortunately, weight loss and health is a journey. You can never arrive at a target weight. You must continuously strive for improvement. In-graining the right habits of healthy eating and exercise is the first step of the master plan of the elite. Practicing these habits for life is the master plan of the elite.
