What impresses me more than losing weight is the ability to keep the weight off. A lot of people can lose weight via a variety of methods but only a handful of people are able to sustain the weight loss. Losing weight is easy. Maintaining weight loss is the real challenge.

Weight loss can be achieved via many methods. If weight loss is the goal, going to the sauna and removing a whole lot of water from the body, is able to achieve just that. Although the scales will show a reduction in weight, how long will the weight loss last. The weight will come back as soon as one starts consuming water again…. and how long can one go one without consuming water.

Then there are those who go on severe diets and starve themselves to meet a target number on the weight scales. Via sheer willpower, one is able to achieve a reduction in weight but sustaining it is a different challenge all together.

One is only able to achieve weight loss if the weight is loss correctly. Correct weight loss essentially means losing fat while maintaining or increasing one’s muscle mass.

I want to take the opportunity to introduce Debra Mazda who is an outstanding lady who was able to lose 140 pounds and has kept it off ever since.

Debra Mazda

At the age of 21 Debra Mazda weighed over 300 pounds. Depressed and battling high blood pressure, Deb made the decision to reinvent her life. She joined a health club. She was the only seriously fat person in the place. She couldn’t even buy athletic clothes in my size. She huffed and puffed and sweated her way through aerobics classes and didn’t worry about whether anyone was laughing at her. At the same time she scaled back her eating. First, she reduced the quantity of her food. Instead of a rack of ribs and a milkshake for breakfast it was maybe, half a rack of ribs. Then she improved the quality of what she was eating. Next thing you know the pounds are coming off. Deb lost over 140 pounds and has kept it off for more than 25 years through her approach to self -motivation.

If you are going to attempt to lose weight, once and for all, lose it correctly. Ensure that the weight loss results in a healthier life and is sustainable. Doing it any other way will just result in rebound weight gain and endless misery.
