crystal ball (Courtesy of stock.xchng by aleheredia)The book ‘The Secret’ tells us of a universal law – the law of attraction. It explains how we have virtually attracted everything that has happened to us – good or bad. Great men and women in the world’s history have used this law to attain and accomplish whatever they have wanted. Every person on the surface of this earth has the same amazing ability to transform weaknesses to strengths, unhappiness to joy, despair to hope, skepticism to believe and disease to health. To benefit from this unique gift, we must first learn to believe and visualize. This probably sounds like a load of rubbish at the moment.. but bear with me and it will be clearer at the end of this article.

Let us take a minute to ponder upon the famous fairy tale of Aladdin and his magic lamp. When Aladdin found his lamp and rubbed it, the genie emerged and said “Your wish is my command”. What if I told you that there is such a genie or external forces of the universe which can grant you your wishes. You just need to believe it. For example, if you believe today that you will definitely lose 5 kilos in 3 months, you will. And vice versa. If you get on a diet program half heartedly, not really believing that you will lose any amount of weight, you won’t.

A man is what he thinks about all day long – Ralph Waldo Emerson. There is a lot of truth in this quote. You can literally think your fears or triumphs into existence!

Turn your thoughts around today and tell yourself your goal. Repeat to yourself “I can lose 10 inches” and believe it. Visualize yourself losing 10 inches every day. Do this diligently every day and then watch your own personal genie appear and say “Your wish is my command”. Have patience and believe it will come true.

Another very potent but severely underutilized gift we have is our power of visualization. Remember Michael Phelps, the swimmer who won 8 gold medals in the recent Beijing Olympics. Not only did he win, he broke the world record in all of them except for one. He used the power of imagination to help him win. According to his interview, he said that “Nothing is impossible. With so many people saying it couldn’t be done, all it takes is an imagination, and that’s something I learned and something that helped me.”As Albert Einstein said – “Your imagination is a preview to life’s coming attractions”.

Take the example of driving from London to Paris. We cannot see Paris in front of us. When we are driving we can only see a few hundred feet. Yet, we know and believe in our minds and heart that if we keep on driving on the right roads, we WILL eventually reach Paris.

The same way, we need to know and believe in our mind that we ARE going to reach the body of our dreams if you keep focused on your goals and take all the steps to achieve it. “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.” – Arthur Ward.

Imagine it, believe it , dream it and you will become it. The external genie will be forced to appear and say “ Your wish is my command”.

Lastly, I just want to finish off with a quote which recently caught my eye.

“A beautiful form is better than a beautiful face; it gives a higher pleasure than statues or pictures; it is the finest of the fine arts”. – Ralph Waldo Emerson.

So start visualizing the body of your dreams and believe that you will have it.
