Law of Cause and Effect in Fitness and Life
“For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”. This was the famous concept put forward by Sir Isaac Newton that has become a fundamental law in Physics. It is known as Newton’s Third Law of Motion. It is strange but true that laws of physics are not really confined to physics alone. Physical laws have similar counterparts in our daily lives as well.
Take the counterpart of Newton’s Third Law of Motion in our daily lives. This is the law of Cause and Effect which simply means “For every effect in our lives, there is a specific cause”
This allows someone to trace the effect back to the cause. If someone keep repeating the same effect, they cannot not expect a different cause. Remember the famous definition of insanity which states that insanity is doing the same thing but expecting a different outcome. Change the cause and the effect changes.
The body weight/shape that someone has is exactly what that person deserves. If someone is lean and sexy, it’s no accident and it’s entirely that person’s fault. That someone has set forward causes that have yielded the effects of a lean and sexy body. This person with a lean and sexy body may have been exercising diligently in the morning when the others were slaves to their bed. This lean person may have been smart with his or her food choices when others were slaves to their mouths.
The same way, it is also no accident if someone is overweight and out of shape. We can easily pinpoint the reason for this. One has set forth causes which have yielded the body that one has. One may try to blame it on genetics, pregnancy, a low metabolic rate and a host of other excuses out there but these are just excuses.
Science has found that only a fraction of a percentage of obesity problems are related to genetics. Scientists have verified these in the Human Genome Project. They have acknowledged the existence of genes which make you susceptible to being overweight or even obese. The surprise is that less than 1% of the population has these genes activated by default. How does this account for the fact that more than 40% of the population in developed countries is overweight. Results from the Human Genome Project have shown that the difference can be explained by the obesity genes being activated by the environment. That’s right! The environment can activate the dormant obesity genes that lay within you. A sedentary lifestyle, alcohol, high calorie density food are only some of the environmental factors.
The environment that one puts their body in, is the cause. The body shape/ weight that one ends up with is the effect. This law is as solid as the law of gravity. And it really does not matter whether the reader thinks that I have gone off the deep end and have begun uttering a load of baloney! This law governs everyone’s lives with or without their consent. It does not need anyone’s permission. By one not believing in gravity do not mean that one would not fall flat on one’s behind if one slips. As vehemently as one may deny the existence of the law of gravity, it will act as required!
So people should stop saying that it’s their genes or their metabolic rates or blame it on their parents! One must start taking responsibility! The sooner one accepts responsibility for it, the faster one can get down to the business of getting the lean body that everyone deserves.
One can begin to set causes that will result in a new body, the effect! One can put one’s body in an environment that deactivates one’s obesity genes. I firmly believe that every cause is either moving someone towards their dream body or away from it. Believing that someone is in equilibrium is another fallacy. As such ensure that you are AWARE of the causes so that you are in full control of the EFFECTS. Weight loss is not magic, it’s a science! Once and for all, lose weight correctly!
