The Cellulite Mystery Revealed (Part 5) – How Bad Is Your Cellulite
In Part 1 of this article series we discussed about cellulite in general. In Part 2, we discussed about how cellulite is formed. In Part 3 and Part 4, we discussed about the factors that aggravate cellulite.
Symptoms of cellulite can include feelings of tightness and heaviness in the legs, especially the thighs. The skin can also be very tender when pinched, pressed upon, or vigorously massaged. The body areas mainly involved are the buttocks and thigh regions, and, to a lesser extent, the lower abdomen, the nape of the neck, and the upper arms.
How bad is your cellulite? Well there is a simple test to determine this. Its called the “Pinch” test.
How The “Pinch Test” Is Done
Using your index finger and your thumb, pinch the skin on your outer thigh, buttocks and abdomen and look for dimpling.
The 4 Stages of Cellulite
The Nurnberger-Mulle scale classifies cellulite into 4 stages;
Stage 0 – No noticeable dimpling while standing or lying down and the “Pinch” test shows folds and furrows but NO mattress like appearance
Stage 1 – No dimpling while standing or lying down but the “Pinch” test shows mattress like appearances
Stage 2 – Spontaneous dimpling when standing but not when lying down
Stage 3 – Spontaneous dimpling when standing and when lying down
