If you have been reading my articles, you will know by now that I am a big fan of Jack Lalanne. He is a fine example of a supersenior who is “Walking The Talk”. Anyone interested in healthy aging should read this article.
I managed to find an old black & white interview done with Jack Lalanne on a talk show. Check out the earlier articles posted on Jack Lalanne, “Exercise is king, nutrition is queen – together you have the entire kingdom”, “Exercise slows down aging and makes you look younger”. You will note that he has always been consistent with his message.
Proper exercise, clean nutrition and consistency is the key.
When asked about his age, he simply says that “Your age is the sum total of how you feel!”. Maybe that is why one grows old faster when in depression, stress or worry!
He has been doing something different every year on his birthday.
In one particular year, he swam from Alcatraz prison to Fisherman’s Wharf handcuffed. When asked what he intended to accomplish from such a feat, he answered, ” The warden at Alcatraz kept telling the prisoners that they could never get out alive. So I just wanted to give them hope. That you can swim away from Alcatraz alive!”

Good blog Param… I believe in alot of it. Great to see you mention Jack Lalanne. I haven’t touched a Burger King or that crap in 25 years, Coke, Pizza Hut the same, Refined sugar even longer etc etc. Been vegetarian for over ten years, no added fats,oil…….taking a little fish for the right oils. regular quality massage,swimming and walking is my thing, low impact (my days of high powered basketball behind me now haha)….. Whilst I don’t quite look like your physique I believe ‘The food you eat today is the body you wear tomorrow!’
…. I have seen the cold currents around Alkatraz island and to keep in a straight line across the bay would have been very hard indeed…. then handcuffed by gawd!
