The Journey of Weight Loss – Part 2
On The 19th of November 2007, my beautiful daughter was born. As this is strictly a weight loss blog, I will not go into how cute she was, and still is! What I will tell you is that I went into labour 20kg heavier than prior to my pregnancy, and at the end of it, I was given my 3.65kg daughter and a reduction of 8kg on the weight scales! Which means I had 12kgs of unaccounted weight, which was probably on various parts of my body.
I have previously said in my first article (Part 1) that it was purely vanity that drove me to lose weight after my firstborn. However, I beg to amend that now. I like to think that I have grown wiser with age and now realize that first and foremost, my health is important. The 2 small miracles that I have brought into this world depend a lot upon me and the best gift I can ever give them, besides the obvious food, shelter, comfort and education, is the gift of my good health. I realized that I should not invest in them so that they can take care of me later when I am old. The onus of it is on me! Of course, we cannot predict the future, but we definitely can do our best to try and preserve our health.
My daughter is now 15 months old. At least I can happily say that I have been able to lose most of the weight that I put on during my pregnancy and do feel much healthier now. Of course there are days when I slip up and miss an exercise or eat ‘forbidden foods’, but at least I am conscious of the mistakes I make and am able to correct them fast. Till date I have loss about 20 inches collectively and do feel quite happy about it. I feel healthier as well and fitter than ever before. I am still work in progress but I know if I keep on this path, I will definitely reach my goals!
