What is Correct Weight Loss

Weight loss is such an overused term that it seems to have lost its value. That’s why we have coined the term “Correct Weight Loss“.

Correct Weight Loss means that one’s weight loss;

  • Is only attributed to loss of body fat
  • Does not come from loss of water
  • Results in better body definition (i.e. closer to the “hourglass” shape for women and “V” shape for men)

Correct Weight Loss is sustainable because it is in agreement with the laws of nature. It will lead to an end result that will surpass one’s expectation.

Lets look closer at what makes up Correct Weight Loss.

Losing Fat and Maintaining Lean Body Mass

Correct Weight Loss is the result of losing only body fat while maintaining lean body mass. Lean body mass includes one’s skeletal muscles, organs and all else except body fat.

It is muscle that gives the body its curves and definition. Without muscles, the body loses its shape appeal. See the other article on Fat & Muscles that discusses in more detail about fat and muscles.

Preserving muscle mass while losing weight is a discussion of another lecture but I thought at least of clarifying the concept of preserving muscles for women. Some women are so afraid of the concept of preserving muscle mass. They immediately think of the Incredible Hulk.  They think that by just looking at a set of dumbbells, they will turn into the twin sister of the green monster. Nothing could be further from the truth! Don’t be influenced by the steroid injecting women you see in muscle-building magazines. These women are injecting themselves with male hormones. That is the only way they can build large muscles.

Women can never build large muscles. They develop very nice, tight, firm muscles that give the body definition and tone. And for all those women out there, let me tell you that building muscles is extremely difficult. If any lady has found the secret of building big large muscles, please share it with me! I will pay big money to learn how to build big muscles because building muscles is HARD!

Losing Weight With Minimized Water Loss

In the euphoria to reduce the digits on the weighing scale, many people do what ever it takes. Even if it means just getting water out of the body to achieve a “temporary” lower weight reading on the scale.

A lot of people (women especially) take slimming teas to lose weight. These teas are diuretics which cause the body to expel lots of water. This gives the impression of weight loss!

Just imagine that there is an entire thriving industry out there that preys on the ignorance of people obsessed with losing weight by expelling water! We hope that our readers will be wiser. Any weight loss attributed to water, will come back on just as fast as it was lost!

A well hydrated body facilitates fat burning. Fluids are required to carry fat from the stores to muscles for burning!

Well-Defined Body Shape

A well-defined body shape is a natural occurrence if weight loss is a result of losing fat, preserving muscle and healthy water loss.

Most diet programs are focused on dropping weight and not preserving skeletal muscles. As a results, the focused is on reducing calories without having much bother about exercise.

This is doing it half right. Just reducing calories will result in the body losing fat and also lots of muscles. Adding the element of exercise forces the body to lose only fat and hold on to muscles!

With INCORRECT weight loss, no matter how much weight one loses, men and women will always have a pouch, flabby thighs (women) and tonnes of cellulite(women).

what is correct weight lossSadly, this is the result of blindly chasing after lower digits on the weighing scale. With the gradual loss of muscles, via Incorrect Weight Loss the back becomes hunched and the shoulders start to droop. This results in someone immediately start to look 10 years older. With too much muscle loss, one essentially starts looking very haggard.

Now reconsider the definition that for a beautiful body achieved via Correct Weight Loss.  For a woman, she will have a shape that resembles the “hourglass”. In a tight-fitting dress, she would make heads turn with nice firm shoulders, upright posture, proportioned hips and lean legs. See the picture below.

When achieving Correct Weight Loss, the body moves towards a well-defined body shape. When losing weight, you must always make sure that the weight loss comes from loss of fat! Then and only then will one move towards the hourglass shape. Otherwise one will move closer to the shape of a vase. A vase is narrow at the top (small shoulders) and large at the bottom!

Which shape will better suit a woman in a bikini? A “vase” or an “hourglass” shape?

Difference in Body of Marathoner & Sprinter

Correct Weight Loss for men means moving closer to the coveted “V” shape. It means having broad shoulders, nicely chiseled chest, and a slim waist, among other characteristics. Someone with extreme weight loss would look like a marathoner. Someone who has undergone Correct Weight Loss would look like a sprinter.

Which of the physiques below is closer to the coveted “V” shape?

You are urged to look at your own achievements if you are constantly dieting and attempting to lose weight. Does every kilogram reduced on the weighing scales move you closer and closer to the “hourglass” shape (woman) or “V” shape (man)? Does it give you the confidence to get out there in your bikini or swimming trunks if you ever wanted to?
